This policy explains what the 1Muslim app for Android phones and tablets does with your data: what stays on your device, what is sent to our servers or to other companies, why, and how you can remove it. The app is published in two editions: one for devices with Google Play (the “Google edition”) and one for Huawei AppGallery (the “Huawei edition”). Where they differ, this policy says so. It replaces all earlier versions.
1. Summary
- No advertising SDKs and no advertising ID. The app contains no ad networks, does not collect the Google advertising ID and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising.
- Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports help us fix problems. The Google edition uses Google Firebase for this, and you can turn it off in Settings; the Huawei edition sends crash reports to Huawei. See section 9.
- We do not ask for your name, e-mail or phone number to use the app. A few features use a device identifier instead, described below.
- Prayer times and Qibla are calculated on your device. Some features do send data to our servers — for example the community duas, weather-based duas, push reminders, donations, eSIM, Premium and the marketplace. Section 3 lists each one.
- We never see your card or bank details. Payments are handled by Google, Huawei, our payment partners and your bank.
- We do not sell your data and do not share it with anyone for advertising.
2. What stays on your device
- Prayer-time and Qibla calculation, alarms and locally scheduled prayer reminders.
- Your settings: themes, language, sounds (including an adhan file you choose from your device), per-prayer time corrections, selected cities.
- The prayer tracker and its statistics, tasbih counters, the 99 Names progress, Quran reading position and bookmarks.
- Marketplace favourites, recently viewed items and saved searches.
- On-device helpers that send nothing: the app may use your last known location, the barometer and the change from Wi-Fi to mobile data to recognise that you are at the Hajj sites, driving, flying or leaving home, so it can offer the right dua.
- Al-Wasiyya (the Islamic will): see section 8.
Most of these settings are included in your Android backup — see section 5.
3. What is sent to our servers, and why
Our servers run under the domains 1muslimapp.com and 1muslim.app. Each feature below sends only what it needs.
3.1 Community duas (“Ask for Dua”)
- When you first open the community duas screen, the app creates a pseudonymous account for you: a random name such as “User1234567”, an avatar emoji and colour, and your app language. The server issues a login token. No e-mail, phone or real name is involved.
- The account is stored in the app's settings on your device, which are included in your Android backup (section 5).
- If you post a dua request, its text and tags are public to other app users. We also store your prayers and reactions, the requests you mark as resolved, and reports you send about posts. Posts are checked automatically and may be removed by moderation.
- Posts can be translated for other readers. Translation runs on our own server; no outside company receives the text.
3.2 Prayer-time database and content
- To keep timetables current, the app sends our server the identifiers of your selected cities and downloads updates, the Hijri date adjustment, themes and adhan sounds. It also checks whether a newer app version is available.
- Adhkar recitations, currency rates for Al-Wasiyya and the progress shown in the Sadaka and eSIM widgets are downloaded from our server. The Quran text, fonts and recitations are delivered by our partners, with our own mirror as a backup.
3.3 Weather-based duas (“Dua by event”)
- To suggest duas for rain, snow or heat, the app sends the coordinates of your selected city to our server when the home screen opens and periodically in the background. The request carries no account or device identifier.
- Our server rounds the coordinates to one decimal place (about 11 km) before requesting a forecast from our partners and caching it for that rounded area.
- The switch in Settings turns off the dua notifications; the app may still download the forecast for your city.
3.4 Advertising statistics
- If you do not have Premium, the app may show ads from our own advertising service. The list of ads is downloaded without any data about you; choosing which ad fits your city happens on your device.
- To report results to advertisers, the app sends the number of impressions and clicks per campaign, together with your selected city name and country, the platform (Android), app identifier, date and random report keys. These reports contain no advertising ID and no account.
- Once a day per city the app also reports that the city is in use (city name and country only), which helps us count active cities.
3.5 Push notifications
- At start-up the app obtains a push token from Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google edition) or Huawei Push Kit (Huawei edition) so that it can receive notifications.
- Sadaka notifications: if your app language is Russian, the app subscribes to a general “sadaka” topic with Google or Huawei. No token is sent to our server for this. They are on by default, and you can turn them off in Settings.
- Push prayer reminders (Premium subscribers): to make reminders reliable on devices that stop background apps, the app sends our server the push token together with the times and types of your upcoming reminders (for example adhan, pre-adhan, Fajr alarm, tahajjud). This is on by default for subscribers and can be turned off in Settings; reminders are then scheduled only on your device.
3.6 Donations (Sadaka)
- Donation campaigns are provided by our partners, independent charity platforms. The app loads campaign information, progress and pictures through our server.
- When you donate inside the app, the app sends our server the campaign, the amount, the currency and a random request key. Our server creates the payment with our partners through the Faster Payments System (SBP), and the payment is completed in your bank's app. We receive the payment status only — never your bank account or card details.
- A random secret for the pending donation is kept in the app's settings so the app can check its status. The app also remembers which campaigns you donated to and the bank you prefer, on your device.
- If you open the donation web page instead, it is operated by our partners, and their privacy policies apply to anything you enter there.
3.7 Installation ID
The eSIM store and Premium purchases identify your device with an installation ID. On new installations it is a one-way hash of the Android ID that Android gives this app, so the same ID comes back if you reinstall the app (it changes after a factory reset) and your eSIMs and purchases can be restored. The raw Android ID is never sent. Older installations keep the random ID they already have.
3.8 eSIM
- When you open the eSIM store, the app registers the installation ID with our server and keeps the token it receives in encrypted storage on your device. Requests also carry your app language, platform, app version and device region, so prices and plans match your country.
- When you buy or top up an eSIM we store the order: the plan, the eSIM identifier (ICCID) for top-ups, the order status and the receipt link. The eSIM itself is supplied by our partners.
- Payment takes place on a secure checkout page run by our payment partners. Your card details go to them, not to us. Order records are kept as long as accounting and tax rules require.
3.9 1Muslim Market
- Searches send what you type, the chosen category and filters, and — for “nearby” results — your city and country.
- If you ask to contact a seller, the app requests the seller's contact and opens WhatsApp or Telegram; from then on the conversation is between you and the seller in that app.
- If you report a listing, the reason and your optional comment are sent to us.
- There are no buyer accounts.
3.10 Premium
- Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Google Play (Google edition) or Huawei AppGallery (Huawei edition). The app checks the purchase on your device; we never see your payment details.
- In some countries Premium can be bought directly from us. The app sends our Premium server your installation ID and the chosen plan, and the payment is completed on a secure page run by our payment partners. If you choose to save your card for renewal, the card is stored by our payment partners; we keep only its display name, the renewal setting and dates, linked to your installation ID. You can unlink the card and turn off renewal in the app.
- Purchases made this way can be restored using the installation ID; the app checks this automatically when you open the Premium screen.
- Gift Premium: if you give Premium to someone, the app sends the recipient's e-mail address and, if you enter it, your name, so we can deliver the gift.
- Premium can also be activated with a premium key bought outside the app. The app sends the key to our Premium server to activate it and checks it once a day; the key is kept in the app's settings.
3.11 Hajj & Umrah certificate
When you request a certificate for a completed journey, the app sends the journey type, the completion dates (Gregorian and Hijri), the preferred certificate number and a random device key stored on your device, so the same certificate can be issued again.
3.12 City search
When you search for a city, the text you type and your app language are sent to our own geo service, which runs on our servers with our own city database. When you use your current location and no matching city is found in the database on your device, the app sends your coordinates to the same service to find the nearest city.
3.13 Support requests
You can contact us from the app by e-mail, WhatsApp, Telegram or Instagram, or through our support website. Nothing is filled in about your device automatically. Messages you send are handled by the service you chose.
3.14 Server logs
Like any website, our servers record technical request data such as IP address, time and requested address. We use these logs only to keep the service running, secure and free of abuse, and delete them after 24 hours.
4. Other companies you may interact with
When you use these services, their own privacy policies apply to the data they receive.
- Google (Google edition) — Google Play purchases and in-app review, Firebase (analytics, crash reports, performance, remote configuration and push), Google Drive backup if you turn it on, Google Maps for the Qibla map and nearby mosques (the map is shown or opened around your location), and Android backup.
- Huawei (Huawei edition) — AppGallery purchases, Push Kit, Map Kit and location services, and crash reports.
- Our partners and your bank — donations (section 3.6).
- Our partners — eSIM supply and payments, Premium payments and saved cards (sections 3.8 and 3.10).
- Wallet — the “Wallet” section opens our partners' service inside the app. If they ask you to verify your identity, they may use your camera through their own verification provider or ask you to upload a document; the app grants the camera and file picker only to that page.
- Garmin — Garmin Connect and your Garmin watch (section 6).
- Our partners — weather forecasts (rounded location only) and Quran text, fonts and recitations.
- WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram — only when you open them to contact us or a seller.
5. Backup
- Android backup. If backup is on in your Android settings, Android copies the app's settings and your favourite cities to your Google account. The app's settings include your preferences and prayer-tracker records, and also your community-duas account, your premium key, the pending-donation secret, marketplace favourites and your last known location. Manage or delete this backup in your Android settings.
- Google Drive backup (Google edition, optional). If you turn it on in the app, the app saves your settings, cities and prayer-tracker records as a file in the app's hidden folder in your own Google Drive, which other apps and we cannot read, and updates it when your data changes. You can delete this backup in the app.
6. Watches
- Garmin — if you connect a Garmin watch, the app sends your city name and identifier, its coordinates, the calculation settings, the Hijri adjustment and 60 days of prayer times to the Garmin Connect app on your phone, which passes them to your watch. Garmin's privacy policy applies to Garmin Connect.
7. Permissions
- Location (precise, while using the app) — prayer times, Qibla, city detection, nearby mosques and on-device helpers. The app does not ask for background location.
- Notifications, alarms and full-screen alerts — prayer reminders and alarms, and push notifications (section 3.5).
- Do Not Disturb access and battery optimisation exemption — optional, so that adhan and alarms can sound on time.
- Camera — only if a wallet partner asks you to verify your identity (section 4).
- Sensors — the compass for the Qibla and the barometer for flight detection, on your device.
- Internet, start at boot, foreground audio playback — to download content, restore alarms after a restart and play adhan and Quran recitations.
The app does not access your contacts, photos, calendar, microphone or Bluetooth. You can change any permission in Android Settings at any time.
8. Al-Wasiyya (Islamic will)
Everything you enter in Al-Wasiyya — the will, medical information, property and contacts — is encrypted on your device, protected by your PIN, excluded from backups and never sent to us. It leaves your device only if you export it yourself, for example as a PDF or an encrypted file shared with a person you choose.
9. Analytics and crash reports
- Google edition. The app uses Google Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring. They receive: the screens you open and actions you take in the app (for example opening a surah, choosing an eSIM country or a marketplace category); app settings such as language, theme, Premium status and whether notifications are on; crash reports with the steps before a crash, your selected city identifier and the name of a custom adhan file; app start-up times and the speed of network requests (addresses without query parameters); and the device and app data that Firebase collects itself, such as device model, Android version, language, country and an app-instance identifier. The advertising ID is not collected. The app also downloads its configuration from Firebase Remote Config.
- Analytics, crash reports and performance data are on by default. You can turn them off at any time with the analytics switch in Settings.
- Huawei edition. Crash reports (with device model, Android version and the steps before the crash) are sent to Huawei AppGallery Connect. The app does not send its usage statistics to Huawei.
10. How long we keep data
- Community-duas account and your reactions and reports: until you ask us to delete them. Your posts: until you delete them or moderation removes them.
- eSIM orders, Premium payments, gift orders and donation records: as long as needed to provide the service and to meet accounting and tax obligations. Saved-card details: until you unlink the card.
- Push tokens and reminder schedules: until you turn the feature off, your subscription ends or the token stops working.
- Advertising statistics: kept per campaign, city and day; they are not linked to a person.
- Analytics and crash data: kept by Google or Huawei for a limited period according to their data-retention settings.
- Weather forecasts are cached by rounded area only. Server logs are deleted after 24 hours.
11. Your choices and rights
- In the app you can delete your own dua posts, turn off analytics, Sadaka notifications, push prayer reminders and weather-based dua notifications, delete your Google Drive backup, unlink a saved card and turn off renewal, and archive eSIMs.
- By e-mail you can ask us for access to, correction or deletion of data we hold about you — for example your community-duas account (tell us its name, shown in the app), your eSIM or Premium records. We will reply within 30 days. Some records must be kept where the law requires it.
- Deleting the app removes data stored on your device. Copies in your Android backup or Google Drive remain in your Google account until you remove them.
- For data you gave directly to Google, Huawei, your bank or Garmin, contact those companies. For data handled by our partners, contact us and we will pass your request on.
12. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Community dua posts are public, so we ask parents to supervise their children's use of that feature. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
13. International processing
The app is available worldwide, and your data may be processed on servers outside your country, including by the companies listed in section 4. We protect data in transit with encryption wherever the service supports it.
14. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. For significant changes we may also tell you in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
